From the editor: Georgians defy government with massive support for Ukraine
Some of the biggest protests in support of Ukraine since the invasion have taken place in the Georgian capital, Tbilisi, despite the fact that the ruling Georgian Dream party is more interested in staying on good terms with Russia. Many Georgians have gone to fight for Ukraine, and on Wednesday morning the bodies of two of three Georgian citizens killed while fighting there were repatriated. Nodar Rukhadze, 25, is an activist and one of the founders of the Shame movement that has been opposing the government’s pro-Russian stance for several years. He joined other people at Tbilisi airport showing respect for the two Georgians who were killed, Gia Beriashvili and Davit Ratiani. In a Zoom interview he told me more about the political situation in his country.
